Huh. I always thought it was just a colloquialism of my area, not an actual word. Neat.
Time to stop using lemmy.world communities, fellas.

I’m trying to think here… I think dog #1 was found next to the dumpster of an apartment complex. Dog #2 was from a shelter and had been picked up next to the dumpster of an apartment complex. Dog #3 was from a stray that whelped underneath someone’s trailer home and everyone who knew the homeowner pitched in to help adopt out the pups. All great dogs, aside from #1 who was pretty territorial.
Meanwhile, my aunt bought a breeder dog (a white lab), and that was also an amazing dog with a lot of health issues. I think she paid bookus for it, so I’m on top of that particular fight.
Way beyond my knowledge base to even speculate. The NPS website has a bit of info on how fossils form, and the important bit seems to be that the material has pores which mineral carrying water can flow through. The site does mention that softer tissues like cartilage can undergo permineralization as well, but… Silicones are pretty permeable to gas, but fairly impermeable to liquids. They’d probably lose the bits that ‘decayed’ from the outside in, instead of the permineralization happening throughout as the material decays.
Ah, shit.
Damn. I was homeschooled for a year while sick, and my parent nuts trying to find the absolute best material so I didn’t fall behind. It’s repulsive that any parent would purposefully give shoddy education. That’s the stuff you always think is relegated to weird religious cults somewhere, which, I suppose, should be a wake up call about what we’re currently dealing with.
The UTVs? Yeah, those things are just insane dune buggies with better PR. Watching one run from the cops was an experience out in the boonies, let me tell you.
You have interesting laws if that’s the case. My place specifically mentions motor vehicles, so even bicycles, which can be considered ‘traffic,’ won’t get you a case.
Um, just in case, maybe spoiler that? It’s not like that first case was difficult to figure out, but still.
Edit: Fucking oops.
nd it has some the best circulation of any of our books
God, but that’s just sad and, well, infuriating.
Well, it looks like subcutaneous injections off silicones do see small molecules of it wrapped in vacuoles in the blood (though the injections are of fluids, so can’t be certain of the breakdown of more solid forms [https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6358378/]). Silicones do burn, producing silica powder, which means it is subject to oxidation-reduction reactions in some manner. Some silicones break down readily in organic processes. The wikipedia article notes clay as being particularly catalytic. The medical grade silicones don’t have even that little bit available for long term study (especially of the thousands of years variety you’d need for this picture), but I’d take a wager even they would eventually decay. Buuuut, the decay would likely be slower than skin/organs.
Meanwhile, my parent gleefully explained that they were writing AN EMAIL to the PRESIDENT HIMSELF using my disease to assuage their feelings as they demanded he not let stem cell research happen. That’s a level of mental fuckery I could be happy about disappearing.
Ah, right. Totally different.
Look, don’t judge me, but manjaro has been the only distro to just work. I haven’t been fucked by nvidia drivers that I know of, I haven’t had any glaring issues… I’m not saying I disagree with the criticisms, but as a ‘just use the fucking computer’ distro, it’s great.
I’ve been using Linux since you created a boot floppy by using dd on the kernel
Wait, is that not how you do it anymore? I swear, I just went through trialing a few more distros, and I dded like crazy.
I have a sceptre. Dumb as fuck, enough plugs of various types to get whatever I want on the screen. Has been working well for ~6 years now, though it’s not a daily use item. I’ve used it as a second monitor for ~3 of those 6 years, and never noticed issues with the quality.
I was sort of expecting a more in-your-face callout of the 6" being at the 5.5" mark, considering most men…
I don’t know the veracity of the statements about tiktok, but I do remember a hubbub back in the day about facebook nestling into parts of your phone and not being uninstalled with the app. A quick search later, and it looks like it was because it was a ‘default app’ on samsung phones. So yeah, for this I definitely want to see the proof of concept and at least some relevant info on tiktok specifically.
This irritates the hell out of me, especially after those malicious link hijacks in the news recently. I’d accept a url before a qr code.
Ugh, I feel this one. I had only written in cursive for something like twenty years, and then I got a job where I needed to write in print for some legal reasons. It was super bad, yo.
You have the ability to do that? Super jealous. Everything at my university was so tightly integrated with the windows ecosystem and its accounts that separating would have been an incredible amount of work.
