Technology@lemmy.world•Why Normal People Aren’t Using AI AgentsEnglish
26·2 months agoThe latest trend with AI agents is giving people the power to build personal software to automate parts of their life, such as building pitch decks, organizing datasets, and other tasks.
I don’t really have a lot of datasets to organise in my private life, a LibreCalc sheet is more than enough. I also don’t use pitch decks when I talk to friends and family. Any other suggestions?

Technology@lemmy.world•AMD to sell Anthropic tens of billions in AI servers, invest up to $5 billion in startupEnglish
5·3 months agoIt’s not circular, but it is unclear under which conditions and when Anthropic will pay for the servers, as they don’t have enough money right now. The article says that they intend to lease some of the servers, but also that AMD will provide a “financial backstop”. It seems to me AMD is taking all the risk to get a foothold in the industry.

5·4 months agoThe business model is armament. Future warfare uses land and air drones and they require network access, which Starlink provides and they’re much more difficult to jam than ground-based network facilities.
At least in Germany, insurance generally only covers the vaccines recommended by a federal expert group of physicians and statisticians called the Stiko, standing committee on vaccination, who tend to be conservative in their recommendations. The HPV vaccine is only recommended for under 18 year olds and it can be difficult to find a physician who will go against the recommendation for liability reasons.
And why would any of these players invest $100b to lower their product’s prices at the risk of overproducing

Technology@lemmy.world•Days after killing the brand, Crucial shows up at Delhi Comic-Con — As Micron pivots to AI, Crucial's presence likely booked out months in advance to eventEnglish
721·10 months agoAt no point has Micron ever stated they’re switching to HBM memory. Micron isn’t “pivoting to AI” and neither are its fabs. If you write this as a journalist, you clearly take your opinion from reddit and lack common industry knowledge.
The amyloid plaque one had 2.500 citations, by the way, and apparently it’s the second most cited paper to be retracted. The most cited retracted paper is Jiang, Y., Jahagirdar, B., Reinhardt, R. et al.: Pluripotency of mesenchymal stem cells derived from adult marrow, which claimed that adult stem cells could become any type of cell.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What will MS do when Linux becomes a serious threat to their monopoly ?
10·1 year agoYes exactly. Embrace and extinguish has always been Microsoft’s strategy. They’ll release their own distribution and either make it slower and more complicated than Windows, so that everyone thinks Windows is the better OS, or they’ll make it a cloud OS like Chrome, requiring recurring payments to use Office 365 and everything else.

4·1 year agoI often hear americans (even scientists) say that they prefer the Fahrenheit scale for weather forecasts, but I believe the perceived higher accuracy is an illusion. Forecasts aren’t that accurate for any given micro climate.
For example, I don’t care if my weather forecast says 26°C or 28°C, I know it’s “short sleeves” weather and when I look at a few graphs at the end of the day, it’s been 25.6°C two meters above ground 100 meters south of me and 27.3°C in the garden, but only for 5 minutes etc.
Clicking the link pushes a .bin file to me. That’s not how you do any of this.
That’s fine but the money flows almost exclusively to the latter part, thus making it an economical bubble which will break soon
Apparently no-one did it yet, so I’ll name my child +++ATH0
