Took me way too long 😅 I had apparently managed to suppress the memory of that whole train wreck…

Technology@lemmy.world•European Union (EU) finds Meta in breach of Digital Services Act for failing to prevent minors under 13 from using Instagram and FacebookEnglish
103·14 days agoExactly! The EU digital wallet spec is perfect for this: It allows for granular info like “is this person older than X years”, which is exactly what we want here! Not what Meta wants, obviously, but fuck them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discomfort with modern technology shapes Gen Z's desire to live in the pastEnglish
20·19 days agoI’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the problem is not the technology, but who controls it.
If we actually taught digital literacy in schools, and democratized access to technology, people could be making their own software made for solving problems instead of capturing attention!
If you took the fields used to grow corn for “biofuels” in the US and covered them in solar panels, they would produce the annual US energy need many times over!
Mildly infuriating?!

Just wanted to second the recommendation! Brennan’s character is hilarious, and Sam slays it in his DM debut (I think).
I’m on iPhone, so don’t know about Android apps, but Mlem is solid for iOS!
Looks like the developer doesn’t know about the
env(safe-area-inset-bottom)variable in CSS. Voyager is a web app, which is why it has this problem to start (I think), but that variable can be used as margin/padding to clear those buttons (and similar on other OS-es).
The common term is “communities” or “comms”, I think.
I would try to look for servers dedicated to the subject you’re interested in and see what communities they have. Keep in mind that there are much fewer users on Lemmy than Reddit, so there might not be a specialized community for a given subject. And if there is, it might be very small/inactive.
This makes me so proud to be Norwegian! (Which hasn’t been easy lately 😅)
Nah, all the Gen Z programmers I know are fueled exclusively by energy drinks! None of them drink coffee.
The ones my age and older, on the other hand…
Nah, you’re not dumb, you just didn’t know!
Here’s some history for you: When the Nobel Prize was created, Norway was in a union with Sweden. Seeing as Norway didn’t have any direct diplomatic relations, they were chosen to handle the diplomatically sensitive Peace Prize while the Swedes handled the rest.
