FYI: the word “game” in the phrase “the most dangerous gane” refers to the people being hunted, not the activity itself!
Just as deer are “game animals”, the humans are game in this particular hunt. But a human is far more dangerous than most animals we hunt, thus the phrase.

This made it sound like you meant that folding an A3 sheet twice gives A2 😅 Might just be my reading comprehension, though!
You’d still get «weird» lengths in the other dimension, though. Remember, the aspect ratio has to be 1 to the root of 2 for the folding in half to work.
Also, I don’t think 1024 would have been such an obvious number back in the late 1700’s, when this system was first thought up 😅
There is a system of sizes where the shortest side of the base size is exactly 1 meter, though: the B system. The aspect ratio is the same as for the A sizes.
I see what you’re saying, but the «weird» dimensions are what makes the whole thing with folding in half to get the next size work:
The aspect ratio has to be 1 to the root of 2 for it to work, and that’s going to make some dimensions «uneven». The utility of that system is worth it many times over!

A0 is the base size, with an area of one square meter. Fold that in half and you get A1. Fold that in half and you get A2, and so on. Regular printer paper is A4. You’ll rarely, if ever, see sizes smaller than A6.

Do you know any good alternatives to Proton for e-mail? Preferably with the option to bring my own address. I’ve heard that self hosting can be a bit of an issue for e-mail…

The page in this exact screenshot is pretty bad, but their design system is actually very well researched and implemented!
It’s very stripped down, but that makes sense considering where it is used (important information and forms).

It would also be super impractical to have a fire going underneath the entire boiler 😅 Much better to send the hot air «through» the water in pipes.

26·2 months agoYes, they are slower. However, I think that the pricing we’re going to see from the cloud providers might be enough to deter quite a lot of people. At least I hope so:
The fact that we’re already used to blazing speed generation kinda sucks. Local models are a much more sustainable way of unlocking the benefits of LLMs than giant ecosystem- and community-destroying data centers.
