As a ham radio operator, I can tell you solar flares can create incredible and somewhat unpredictable changes in radio transmissions. Hams love it because we get to push boundaries from a safe shack, but if I was on a plane that uses radio signals to navigate I would be less happy about solar flares effecting transmissions.

The evil companies are far more organized than any individual. If you do evil things for a living or provide support to a company that does evil things the reality is your personal good actions will always pale in comparison by orders of magnitude to the 40+ hours a week of highly specialized and organized labor. It’s functionally impossoble to make up for the harm you’d cause.

Id argue nested comments are equally as bad as voting. Nesting comments just encourages bickering without any breaks in the chain at all and allow you to attack or even dogpile one specific person and comment instead of having to make your own point on your own comment and see if that has any conversarional merit other than tearing down someone else.
