Important to note that WASM will only give you enough performance boost to justify using it if the task is significantly demaning to JS. JS is not slow.
Considering how almost everything you possibly need in Japan is in 1-2 miles range, guess they can afford smaller cargo space
Still not stealing
It’s not fair to call Kagi just meta search engine. As you mentioned they do have their own index, it’s just that they are complementary. They even show you how much of the results are unique results from their index. They’re very open about it.
there is a better open source meta search engines which actually respect your privacy and need your donations more than Kagi shareholders.
Privacy I can definitely agree on but the actual search result is not better. I think it’s safe to say that if you’re paying for Kagi, you know what Searxng is and can spin up one if you want. I’ve done it myself and it was clearly not better.
And if you think about it, if you self host Searxng, that means all the search query + your IP goes to search providers which kinda kills the point, unless you use VPN or Tor, both of which have their drawbacks.
If you use hosted instance, you have to trust them. Being an opensource project doesn’t mean a lot when you can’t go through the source code that is actually running.
At some point you have to trust someone. I happened to trust Kagi to some extent.
Obviously because western culture is the mainstream. There are a lot of movies/TV shows about, for instance, Korean culture. You just don’t see them much because it’s not mainstream. But thesedays, you can argue that they’re getting pretty popular.
Enjoying and using one’s own culture is clearly not racism. Not actively looking for different culture is not racism either; you can’t force people to like something. And I think we’re at a point where the general public is pretty much wide open to things from other cultures. Racist 4chan incels are definitely not the majority.
If something is good, it’ll sell. Of course it’s not that simple, but we do see more and more things from other cultures.
This is also why I never liked the idea of the black Little Mermaid. It’s clearly just a virtue signaling Disney money grab that has nothing to do with black representation. If they could make money and look good by putting white power shit in their Snow White remake, they would. They just don’t even try. If they really cared about representation, they should’ve come up with an actual African mythology story and not just put a black woman in a pre-existing story, as if Danish people at that time would’ve welcomed her like the movie. If anything, that’s racist.
Good and authentic stuff sells. Surely it’s not going to dominate overnight but just like how black music dominated(and still does) music industry, it’ll get better over time with actually good representations.
I know that my argument oversimplifies a lot of things but it’s doesn’t help if you just say it’s racism.
Mastodon does it like this:
At the end of the day, you still have to manually put in the address, which is still nice to have than nothing though but it’s only marginally better.
Check out lemmy assistant web extension.
I often take a look at Material design’s color palette when I need colors. It’s nice to follow them and it’s also nice to take hints from them.
I meant leading as in “if Apple does something, others will too”. That has been true for quite a long time now.
anti-poor organization
I’m using that exclusively now for sure.
Considering their industry-leader status, it’s about 5-7 years too late.
Fancy S3 losing market? I am shocked!
I mean, part of the protest is to wait for the consequenses. Whether it’s right or wrong, I don’t see how this is surprising to anyone.
Thank you. I’m Asian myself so 😅
Bigot, says who denies Xinjiang genocide. There’s nothing to add to the discussion when you are clearly not capable of having one lol. Blocked.
9-hour-old account hither and thither shilling the CCP
That is all, folks.
Movie is very much meh.
Chess is all about pattern recognition: you don’t spend time actually coming up with your answer to the question(best move). 99% of the questions are already solved and most of the time it’s about figuring out what question is the board asking and giving the answer.
