  • Im not saying that nor advocating communism, im just stating that what you said about the reason you think people only do those jobs, I believe at least, is false simply by counterargument. Ask any one of the people who enjoy that kind of work environment if they would ever work in an office, closed in a room seated at a desk all day, and most would probably say you couldnt pay them enough to do it. To them, even if you DO give them more money, its not a reward/compensation because they value different things.

Im one of the office-type people. Id like to think what I do has value to society, and I believe I would do it regardless of the compensation/regardless of if I got the same money as a lumberjack, because I enjoy it. Thats another angle: if everyone is paid the same, why not do what you enjoy. If what you enjoy is being in the woods cutting trees, or on a boat in the sea, or in a tower in isolation for weeks (fire watcher), or any number of other “undesirable” jobs, and youd still get paid a living wage for doing that, same as everyone else, why would you ever subject yourself to something miserable for you, for no better reward?

  • I see. If at all avoidable, id like to avoid bambu if they are on the path of locking down, despite how easy they are. Opennes is really important to me, so if I didnt go for bambu, nor creality, what are ky other options at aprice range that is a logical investment for a first printer? If theres nothibg else, Ill just buy a bambu, but id rather not

  • Ill steal some suggestions I liked from other commenters and add my own.

    • Draw a picture
    • Write a letter to someone
    • Find home on the map and calculate distances to school, grandparents, friends, etc
    • Make a simple song
    • Design something simple using CAD software (you’d need to find something really simple to learn/use. Someone suggested a program that I assume allows you to design minecraft buildings external to minecraft)

    And most importantly for me:

    • Research one or several topics. Youd need to do the research yourself beforehand, as well as pick topics you know align roughly with your child’s areas of interest, but if they gain the skill of looking up information for themselves and finding the answer, pretty much anything is within their grasp IMO. Maybe set this as the first one so they can apply it for whatever further challenges you set them (extreme example but e.g. “How to create dog in blender” if you set them the task of using blender to design something). On that note, maybe set 2 distinct types of research topics - such as technical tasks and information tasks. What I mean is: “how do i install x, y, z program and use it” would be a technical task in my opinion, whereas something like “why are farmers legally forbidden from replanting seeds from their crops” would be an information task.

    Best of luck!
