  • I’ll give you a BIFL answer that’s not super heavy on performance. I’ll assume your primary goal is commuting or some light exercise.

    1. Stay away from carbon fibre. Stick to aluminium or better yet, steel.
    2. Choose a bike that has a fanbase. For example Bromptons or Surlys are expensive for what they are but you can maintain them for a lifetime.
    3. Stay away from the cheapest bikes. If you’re going for a low budget bike try to stick with a mainstream reputed bike brand like Giant.
    4. A belt drive is more hassle free if you have the budget.

Something tells me it’s you who doesn’t read enough. Checkout some words whose pronunciation is different from the spelling. You’d be surprised to know why that is. Or why some words have changed their spellings (from colour to color or metre to meter).

“Bigot” is not a good look on you.

Yes I understood that in the second reading. I deleted the comment but I guess it was not propagated in time everywhere. Also you can’t add up the men’s and women’s percentages because the number of participates could vary between the two groups.

Tell me this, why don’t “but” and “put” sound similar?

What about “height” and “weight”, what’s the rule here? And what makes a letter silent in a word? If any of these rules have exceptions, then why are there exceptions?

They are “descriptives” that’s literally in the name. Mocking them is equivalent to mocking historians for only knowing the past and not being able to predict the future.
