  • Oftentimes, and I hate to say it, I look on reddit, for all the reasons you just described. I’m not saying it’s a perfect method, but these days I find myself looking on there for anything based around opinion - such as the quality of certain devices. It seems the fastest route to find opinions of real people. And besides with how pretentious most reddit users are, they have a tendency to OVER recommend (for example suggesting anything less then the best is dog water and shouldn’t even be considered, a rare benefit).

You just have to learn to see through the occasional bot post but it is usually pretty obvious, at least moreso then the endless crap on the, as you put it, hellscape.

  • One of my main hobbies. Not just that, but my method of dealing with emotions, focusing, working effectively, expressing myself, preventing boredom, taking my mind off the world, bringing me up when I feel down, it’s my main source of enjoyment, main source of happiness, my culture, my community. I enjoy learning about it, absorbing content, creating it, playing it. I even mod two communities here and post to other peoples’.

So yeah, it’s pretty much my entire life at this point. Wouldn’t be here without it. I probably spend more time awake, listening to music, then not. And when I’m not, I permanently have a song playing in my head.

To answer your question about devices, I like to listen through devices that allow me to get as close to the way the artist intended it, as possible. Whether it be good-quality peripherals, listening digitally or listening to vinyl.

The irony is, a lot of music I gravitate towards has many imperfections, which to me, is what makes it human, real, and ALIVE. It is far more powerful at conveying true emotion and is thus more meaningful. So even when listening to music which was poorly recorded to begin with, I still prefer listening through good quality speakers for example, because it is more true to the original sound.

  • However, I haven’t played the game in quite a while (despite it being one of my most played games) since imho the devs did a great job of royally fucking up the game. With the direction they took it, I just get burned out when playing it after such a short time nowadays.

Bear in mind this example is one of a long list of things I believe they got wrong: I initially thought the equipment overhaul was a good idea, except after having played for over 100hrs I don’t feel like grinding to get all my old equipment back again, especially after so little has been done to make the core gameplay more interesting.

Anyway, sorry, rant over, used to be one of my all time favourite games.

  • Yeah sounds like a pretty cool game concept.

Reminds me of that one enemy (in form of a ghost) in Phasmophobia, a Deogen (if my memory serves me correctly). Unlike the rest of the ghosts which only know your location based on any noise you make, any interactions you make with certain objects, or if you are in its line of sight… This ghost ALWAYS knows where you are, except it is really slow.

I love/hate the idea of an enemy slowly making it’s way over to you from across the map, and you can’t see it, but it can see you. * shudders *

It would be pretty neat to have a game based solely around prolonging your inevitable demise, trying to survive for as long as possible, maybe with roguelike features such as rng and differing runs.

  • I guess it depends if YOU would be comfortable with it. Me personally I would find it a bit awkward to go to a place like that with a close family member. And I’m not sure he will make many worthwhile friendships there haha. Then again, what do I know, I don’t really have friends either…

I mean if you are both okay with the idea, then go for it, but it also depends on what kind of example you want to set for him. It will probably help him come (heh) out of his shell a little, but if he doesn’t have much social experience, well I guess just think about what kind of behaviours you might inadvertently breed, especially if he is lonely, it could make him feel worse.

E.g. lonely teen who believes he has no chance with women, starts hanging around places like that. I’m not sure whether it would help things or make them worse. But I don’t know your son, so that’s a judgement call for you to make really.
