Yes, 100%. When I opened an investment account, I explained to our financial planner that I was going through the motions doing what I know I’m supposed to as a responsible adult. But I absolutely don’t expect humanity not to destroy itself before the point in my life where I’m supposed to reap that reward.

Hence, I spend more than is probably advisable on things like going to shows, travel, special events, etc. I wanna enjoy as much as possible before it all burns down, cause that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. And I plan on checking out early if things get bad enough, but that’ll be a while yet.

Recently, my partner’s 18yo nephew asked her if she had any iPods (she doesn’t). I took a photo of the eight or so different models that I still have in storage and sent it to him just to gloat. I’m a monster.

C’mon now. You’re not nearly rich or influential enough to get away with that and you know it. Rules are for regular people, not the rich or mighty. Sheesh.

It’s finally the year of Desktop Linux, about fifteen (or more) years after people thought it would happen. I’m happy for all the nerds who are finally vindicated. (I like Linux, but I’m an Apple guy.)

That was my reaction when I read about them pulling copilot and such. I think it’s probably the reaction of every software nerd.

It seems like we’re at a real turning point for Linux adoption. I’m an Apple nerd, but I love seeing people switch to Linux and write about what a (mostly) positive experience it is. Cheers to my fellow nerds getting off the screaming pile of garbage MS if forcing on people who just want a computer that works.

I’m so happy that, after I decided that I was gonna close Lemmy after reading the posts on the current page, this was the last one. What a great way to wrap up and go about my day after horrible current events and such.

Honestly, I’d find it pretty awesome if someone I was dating knew half the things I’ve learned about from Wikipedia that are interesting yet have no practical effect on my day to day. Maybe the most applicable thing I’ve learned about there is the Dunning Kruger effect, though this helps me understand certain types of people and opinions more than it helps me do anything about it. Most of it is as useful as the ship: fun to find out about and then just trivia the makes me like a Lemmy post.

Oh, that would be a shame. Not like I was already planning on buying a new computer this year and the idea of over-paying due to RAM shortages and other bs has made me mad at them. After already being mad at them for a lot of reasons that were more abstract in how they harmed me. Fuck 'em.

That explains it. All the mystical, mythological stories in the past weren’t fanciful fairytales after all. Turns out that ancient people had sophisticated science that we still don’t understand. Holy shit, all those history channel shows about ancient aliens or whatever were right!
