With modern LED lights I read that it might be better to just keep them on because heat cycling reduces their lifespan, forcing you to replace them and thus costing more money than the electricity would cost.

Apparently there is some confusion about a solar day and a sidereal day. Wikipedia gives these numbers:

[A] Venusian day is 116.75 Earth days long, about half a Venusian solar year, which is 224.7 Earth days long.

That, of course, confused me. Further research showed that 116 days is a solar day, when the sun is at the same place in the sky again. But a sidereal day, when the planet completed a rotation on its axis, is indeed 243 Earth days.

Back when I was at uni I had a fellow student from England who complained about the formal you in German. It took him to start learning Japanese to realize it’s really not that bad. In German it used to be that you say Sie to any adult-looking person until you both agreed to use du. At work this is a lot more relaxed now with entire companies stating everybody used du. Makes it much easier and nicer, in my opinion.

I remember when r/ProgrammerHumor was full of hilariously bad UX/UI. There were so many amazing entries.

I heard about people using multiple used 3090s in a single motherboard for this. Apparently it delivers a lot of bang for the buck, as compared to a single card with loads of VRAM.
