A couple days ago I heard the horrifying sentence “I asked chatgpt to generate a secure password for the laptops” from someone returning a cart full of laptops they borrowed. Does your browser not have a built in password generator? Does your password manager not have a built in password generator? Could you not find a single password generator online?

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•When you accidentally say "folder" instead of "directory" in a Linux group.
3·2 days agoI fairly sure I’ve seen various *nix tools call it super, meta, and hyper. I think super is the most correct but I’ve seen all three

3·4 days agoWell if we want non-foss examples, look at windows 11 and modern macos. Flat design is clearly finally starting to fall out of style

43·4 days agoWith how many people are excited for oxygen and air’s revival I doubt I’m alone in thinking the new design is really ugly compared to the old one. And the logo is actually hideous

how did he score fractional goals in 2006 and 2018?
This had better be a currency where 70 thousand of it is worth like 30 USD
i hope its wired up to the real one so it just turns on and off seemingly randomly like on all old cars
Used to happen to me all the time until I realized they were actually correctly gendering me the whole time

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you change the default luggage code from '000' to another code?
22·19 days agoOne time I was in the car with a friend who had just gotten a new piece of luggage. He was fiddling with it and told me that he had set a new code on it. I asked “Is it XXX” (some random 3 digit number I made up but forgot). It was Somehow, I got the 1 in 1000 chance and really did guess his luggage code first try
wait does risc-v firmware for the crusoe actually exist? that sounds fun
I think I had that too. I remember it caused some kind of strange associations, like books were inherently green because when i thought about them I saw a green book. Then I had like a super strong internal monologue for a while but it got less intense and now everything’s more fuzzy
Buckshot roulette is like 1GB. It’s basically just a game about figuring out probabilities but its really fun and has a lot of strategy to think about. It also only costs like $2 which is a bonus

7·29 days agoIt’s memorial day in the US today. I spent the day playing stardew valley and RV there yet with my friends since we all have the day off work.

Is that not a real person? Why would the face be censored if it wasn’t?

OpenSUSE will almost certainly feel slower and heavier than Arch on any given hardware. Zypper is way way way slower than pacman, more stuff is installed out of the box, and at least personally I see a lot of slowdowns due to BTRFS doing various maintenance. There are a lot of great reasons to use OpenSUSE, I’ve been using Tumbleweed on my desktop for years, but this is not one of them.
