I’ve tried others but I only really like eternity. I guess I could try to maintain it myself but I don’t like android development

ChromeOS is definitely better than windows, you can run all your normal Linux things just with a slightly annoying desktop environment
Yeah, I used Infinity for reddit but then they had to start charging for use because of the API pricing so I moved to Eternity which is a fork of Infinity for lemmy. Problem is, Eternity doesn’t seem to be maintained anymore so when it stops working with some lemmy update I guess I’ll just have to go back to entertaining myself with simon tatham’s portable puzzle collection or something
There’s also Konqueror, the file manager/web browser combo that was mostly replaced by dolphin but is still sort of maintained
Interesting, dolphin is by far my favorite file manager. What don’t you like about it?
The only times I’ve ever used anything but Linux as my main OS were the weekend I used FreeBSD and the weekend I used Haiku

I think they are illegal in many countries, but I guess it isn’t well enforced
To be fair, most CRT TVs are the equivalent of like a cheap not-classy record player. A nice big 1200p CRT computer monitor is a lot more classy
Yeah, I think minecraft is the most expensive game I’ve ever bought, there are just so many good things around that $20 mark. Beamng, terraria, vintage story, hytale, ets2/ats, stardew valley, slime rancher, it’s so much stuff
Does tux have an official gender?

modern windows tries to trick you into not doing that. if you hold for a little bit it turns the screen off so you think it’s turned off when it really hasn’t, then if you hold a little longer it turns the screen back on and tells you to please stop holding the power button, then finally a little after that the computer actually turns off. why the hardware even makes that possible is beyond me

I use both matrix and discord regularly and matrix is nowhere near a viable alternative for discord, the way they work is just too different. The only real alternative I’ve been able to find is guilded but it’s no better than discord since it’s still completely centralized and closed source
not anymore there’s a blanket
I always end up coming back to arch specifically because it’s easy to maintain and mostly just works. There’s so little to break and when something breaks it’s always easy to fix
Android’s modern gesture navigation is awful. I like gesture navigation on ubuntu touch, sailfish, webos, just about everywhere I’ve used it except android, but I cannot stand android’s. Why does swiping from both sides do the same thing? Why does swiping from the bottom do multiple different things depending on how you swipe? Why does swiping along the bottom to switch apps rearrange them so going back and forth is unpredictable? The old two button semi-gesture navigation was so much better.

I feel like mozilla could switch to making all their decisions by flipping a coin and do better than they’re doing in recent years
I just use Typst for everything these days, but if you really want a gui thing there’s always the web version of google docs and ms office
Ooh what hardware? A G5 mac or something more exotic?
