  • No. I didn’t much like Reddit but I have never had so many problems with a social media site as I have with Lemmy. Right now there’s 17 comments in my notifications page, but no way to access them because it just says “404 - page not found.” And there’s no way to view or erase them.

Lemmy has tons of connectivity problems also. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d have to rate it minus 100. I’ve left Kbin and actually am no longer even using Lemmy but once in a grand while. I’m looking for other sites that will work better.

I have the same thing. Sort of. I mean I don’t make the first move because of crippling social anxiety also, and I hate to say it, but it just gets worse when you get older.

The only good thing is, as you get older you stop worrying about it as much. You develop a more “it is what it is” attitude about everything.

  • Still - I wish I had a room full of gold coins so I could build a diving board right over it and dive into it, and break most my bones and teeth when I land and, like Peter Griffin, I realize it’s a great pile of solid metal not a soft liquid. I’d laugh while my teeth fell out. That would be so hilarious!

  • I’d love to go to that kind of party, where rainbow cake is served along with a slice of anthropological oration. But even though I’m gay (and therefore supposed to accept every odd idea that comes along, apparently), I’m not sure gender is a “social construct” alone. There are so many other things that can play into it including hormones and body image and psychological stuff - yet I still feel it was so much easier and breezier when we could just call ourselves men or women or he or she. *(not that I’m against people calling themselves whatever else they want).

  • I’ve been radicalized against HP for a decade now. I bought an HP printer with the guarantee of a sizeable rebate. Of course, the rebate never showed up and every time I called about it, the customer service person would read their script, “Oh we sent that out just a few days ago should be arriving soon.” Uh huh. Here it is 15 years later, no rebate check and I’m sure they never intended to send one at all. I’m not a fan of HP at all.
