The “quietly” is aimed at Microslop. They didn’t grandly announce it on every platform like they do with everything else.
It is perfectly fitting in this context.

I made the deliberate decision years ago not to play multiplayer games even though having almost exclusively played those. It was just to get away from all the toxicity and competetiveness.
So from then on I have only played singleplayer games, and it have been such a positive change for me. Much more entertaining and no stress at all. And the bonus was of course that it made switching to Linux gaming so much easier, since I didn’t miss out on anything I wanted to play.

How the fuck is it not? If you have been following developments, these oligarch techbros are basically the US government, they are crashing the economy for their shortsighted profit and complete control over the consumer electronics market via cartels, causing rising prices on everything, not to mention they are using their tech for dystopian things like palantir, surveillance and other autocratic things.

It is pretty wild seeing him become the focus of world attention and big politics, when he is just a guy who made funny Hell Let Loose and DayZ videos.

Perhaps if we were just talking Teslas in general, but the cybertruck? I can’t imagine any non-assholes buying and driving those. That thing is a statement, a fascist “own-the-libs” statement in particular.
In many countries they do in fact cost nothing at all.
It is also important to mention that you don’t actually own any art with NFTs. You own a link pointing to the art, but the art itself is not owned by the owner of the NFT.

Nobody looks at AI products and goes, wow, this is art.
Of course they do. Every single person making prompts for it certainly does, and lots of other people as well.

Nothing to salvage from that mess of a live-service slop.

Unless you have specific wants (which casual users mostly doesn’t), you don’t need terminal to install most apps on CachyOS.

Unfortunately probably a lot fewer will move than we expect. People seem capable of accepting all sorts of shittification in favour of actively changing their platform. Just look at how many still uses twitter, despite its literal nazification.

So you have no idea which OS you are running? Well, that’s certainly a choice.

If you stop in the middle of a highway you absolutely are at fault.

The tv show box sets often have commentary tracks, which is something you will be hard pressed to find even in pirated versions, so they still have their advantages.
I cherish my The Wire dvd box set (found ridiculously cheap at a charity shop), so much good commentary there, particularly from David Simon, who always have interesting anecdotes or facts to say about particular scenes etc.

No, but they are prohibitively expensive. Just like hdds will be.
It is almost as if one of those two things is wildly intrusive and affects everything on this Earth for a number of different reasons, and the other is just a food item.

It will be really interesting to see the figures at the end of 2026, when Windows 10 has truly reached end of life, and a whole bunch of people are going to be forced to choose.

I switched to Linux in December, and it was a remarkable feeling. I don’t think I had really noticed how oppressive or depressive Windows had become (and I hadn’t even switched to Win 11, just using win 10), or how much I was actually personally affected by, but that feeling of suddenly being free when I booted up my linux was quite surprising and exhilarating.
It was like a massive weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.

And we will start pushing it again in six months time when people have forgot about now.
Yeah, I don’t really get these “this has always been possible” comments whenever it is about AI. Yes you could do this before, yes you could manipulate or even completely and convincingly make up photos before AI.
The point is that now is that it actually took some time, skill and effort to do that before, but now this has basically been made easily available to everyone, taking no effort or time. So that now any malicious moron out there who wants to do something destructive and evil are actually capable of doing it on the spur of the moment.
