If it worked for the Mongolians it’ll work for the Mongols.
It also doesn’t help that Lovecraft was at the tail end of an old style of writing while in many ways being a forerunner of a newer style. Makes his works kinda clunky if that makes sense, like I get the same feeling from Mark Twain for example. So the tedium probably comes from being not quite old not quite modern where it just ends up awkward, also tack on the fact he was revolutionizing suspense in a lot of ways and yeah… Not fun.
Just gonna add to your point but with a slightly different factor. Fanfiction, the Harry Potter fandom had a massive chunk that was almost entirely devoted to fanfiction from smut to viscous deconstruction it existed. This means that folks may have legit grown to respect fanfiction Slytherin and to a degree forgotten about the book/movie version because they were exposed to an entirely different interpretation.
Also for those who don’t believe me go to A03, Fanfiction dot net, or fuck even space battle forums and look at the sheer numbers. It’s right fucken absurd to a degree, ain’t judging I’m a bitch for star wars fanfics but still it’s easy to forget just how big that section of the Harry Potter fandom was.
I just realized she looks like the 99p store manager from Hunter: The Parenting, quick throw The Great and Mighty Kevin at her!
Same it’s going right on the CRT. Goodbye Degurechaff and Cain. Hello Soviet Tim Curry.

Fun fact someone did this with pornhub with the one computer running windows 8 back in middle school. It was nominally in protest for trying to get us to stop using our weird outdated laptops we were bringing in from home.
Yes they all had doom installed within the first week of us dragging them in.

Also all the assassination attempts.

I ain’t Christian but I will happily do the Christlike act of beating a priest with a whip.
Also something I want to note Jesus made the whip meaning that wasn’t just rage that was true fury that made him dedicate a day towards crafting his instrument of retribution. Which is just metal.

I propose that they must use vocaloid voices or that old voice code that Wasteland 3 uses for the bob the robot looking guys.
Yes, but also that doesn’t really mean anything in relation to what’s being talked about. Americans have more exposure to firearms on average I’m sure the folks of Svalbard would have a similar thing going on, same with basically any country with mandatory enlistment. Whoopty fucken doo folks can be controlled with words this observation was first made in writing in the fucking early bronze age when mammoths were still extent.
Can someone turn me into a servo skull I want to follow around field researchers and screech at them in binary.

Only slightly better than mars, frankly speaking the ocean is about as hostile as you can get without going to space. Maintenance alone would be a fucking nightmare, look at cruise ships or oil rigs for example and you can get a pretty good idea. Unless you are talking about artificial islands since we’ve been doing that for millenia.

I’ve been in a crash in a 1995 Toyota 4runner which used more or less the same body, head on into the back of a truck at about 50 due to break failure. I can assure you that old Toyotas are about as safe as you can get without it being modern and even then it’s a relatively minimum difference. A lot of the increase in safety started to happen with cars around 2000-2005 which given the lag time for a lot of these feature to see it in statistics means that that era of car is pretty damned decent.
Also it wasn’t my 4runner mine had its engine self destruct due to a shitty rebuild.

My 2001 Tacoma get like 24 mpg I think, been awhile since I did the math. Anyways it does all you said, got a tape player crank windows, and a bench controlled by 2 springs and 2 levers.

Nothing really it’s a GMO that was created to fill a vitamin deficiency in some parts of Asia. Can’t remember what vitamin it was though, absolutely brilliant success of a crop though. Funny enough some of the research on it may have used my 2x great grandfathers work as a baseline since he was working with some folks to do something vaguely similar with millet back in the early 1900s. It went nowhere but did lead to some success for his orange groves though.

Which is why until modern farming some of the most nutritionally balanced people’s were hunter gatherers and pastoralists. The big advantage of farming vs ranching or pastoralism is that you can feed a lot of people for relatively little work, this rule of thumb is still true it’s just that we can now do it on such a massive scale that a lot of the downsides have simply been overwhelmed.

Even I eat potatoes sometimes.

I feel like for all the effort you may spend pissing about you could just go to an electronics recycling center buy a relatively new laptop with a busted screen and just use that. Just get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, hell I think there are remotes specifically made for this purpose.
I’m kinda surprised there isn’t an old Newgrounds animation based off this concept.
