The scene with the guy without eyes and a tongue is imprinted into my mind because I happened to look at the TV just as that happened. I don’t even remember how old I was, but definitely way under 10.

Every time this gets brought up, I go back to a thread where my most popular comment was (since I no longer have an account to check back on and it’s the only one I know for sure I can find). To this day, it luckily still remains deleted. If it does get restored, I wonder if it becomes the original comment or the generic [deleted in protest of the Reddit API change] or whatever I set them to be edited to before deletion.
Good to know! Thanks for the warning. c: My default course of action will likely be just disabling the old alias and making a new one.
Lol! I need to start doing something like this when one of those email addresses eventually ends up in a breach. :D
Reminds me of the grim (or beautiful, depending on how you look at it) practice of photographing the deceased, especially children, during the Victorian era. Dressed up and posed, sometimes with living family in the same photo. Part of the reason being the exact fact that they wouldn’t move during the shot.
Laughs in long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony fox
I’ve gotten offered a job on the first interview and I worked there for a while. Then again, that was not in my field of IT and was a part-time job with a well-known company, alongside studies. So while it can be a red flag, it’s not always. Depends on the situation. Just stay vigilant.
I mean, there are cases of victims being directly told by store employees that they can’t sell the cards because it’s a scam, and them getting right back on the phone with the scammer and going to another store instead.
I’m setting up some things for myself before I start proper streaming but little test streams I’ve done have been very successful!
And I’ve subbed to the community, so really appreciating the advertising. Cx
Owncast is rather interesting to me. Self-hosted streaming platform that can use the ActivityPub to publish streaming notifications, if desired.
Carnivores have just as much right to live as their prey, as unfortunate as the cost of life is.
We, as humans, are in a rather unique position, being omnivores with many of us in the developed world having easy access to food. And those of us can make a choice to not cause the death of other sentient beings in order to have food.
You can show a lot of differences, but the end result is always the same: Sentient beings dead way before their natural expiration.
While it still works, you can use old.reddit.com to get around those walls.
I was going to say this, too, but I was too lazy to fact check so I left it out. c: In other words, I’ve heard about this too.
How they are not completely mortified by that, I will never know.
I once heard a claim that they just can’t smell it themselves. I can believe it, because our senses tend to filter out sensations that are continuous.
WHAT?
No worries here. Just showing that alternative formats exist to anyone who doesn’t want to post Steven Crowder.
Years ago, I was into Geocaching. For the uninitiated, users hide small caches around the world, and the cache usually includes at least a log where people who find the cache can mark their visit. The coordinates of the cache are marked on the Geocaching website and people use GPS to locate it.
I thought it was finally time I’d put one of my own caches out for people to find, so I went to scout out possible locations for it. It was late autumn and was still light out. I knew that I wanted to put it on a nature trail I liked to walk so I went there.
One thing to know about late autumn up here in the Nordics is that it gets really dark really fast, meaning I was enveloped by a dark forest pretty quickly after making it to the trail. No matter, I thought, I had my phone and it had a flashlight, so I kept going, despite it having low battery (which, in hindsight, was a mistake).
I found a spot for the cache at about the halfway point of the trail and made a mental note of it, planning to come put it there during the limited daylight hours.
And soon after… Lights out. Phone was dead and I was in total darkness. Ambient light was close to non-existent due to how cloudy it was. I felt a bit panicked about the situation but kept going, feeling around with my feet to make sure I wouldn’t walk off the trail.
Lucky for me, I was quite familiar with the trail and eventually managed to come out the other end on a gravel road that was also unlit but at least easier to traverse and eventually got back home.
Not the scariest possible experience, but you can imagine how it feels to walk through a silent, damp forest in pitch black darkness while trying to feel your way out. Not sure I would have fared this well if the trail was unfamiliar.
I did get the Geocache out there the next day, and it remained there until I moved out of the area.
I got past it because it happened to throw a place from my country. And there was also a flagpole with a flag on it to really drive it home. XD
