Does anyone know of or run lemmy-centric chat services in any capacity? IRC channels, matrix, discord (controversial I know, but would be perfect for this), whatever else?

I was curious to know which community across the fediverse in a given subject/area is the most popular, but am not sure how to find or know that. Having a place to chat about lemmy offline would be the perfect place to ask such questions or having meta discussions without spamming the actual communities, like I’m doing now.

We have a lot of groups on Signal. Linux and FOSS, Veganism, Cafe (general chat), Politics groups, Gaming, Anime (kinda dead), Privacy tips and discussion, Maths, music, open street maps groups, self discipline and procrastination, piracy, language and linguistics, and a few more. If anyone wants a link to join any of these groups, send me a DM.

Signal uses usernames, now. Your phone number will not be public.

Ideally, I would say Matrix is a better option. I am in a few Matrix channel, but not a lot of people use Lemmy there.

I don’t think that asking on here constitutes spam. Why not just ask and see what happens? If the moderators don’t like it, they’ll let you know.

If you’ve got questions about Lemmy or the Threadiverse in general, it’s probably good odds that someone else has the same ones too.

I’m in a couple of community-specific mod chats on matrix. Also, the matrix room for NonCredibleDefense is fairly active.

I’ve been meaning to set up a matrix chat for CasualConversation, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
