EDIT: oh, I realized I have a question for you, too - so, I bought this like disposable USB-chargeable vape pen, and it has a lot of juice left, but I’ve noticed when I suck to get it started, it just won’t “hit” or heat up … it’s like there is oil clogging something that is necessary to get it started?

Sometimes I have to suck really hard for minutes to get it going (there is no button as far as I can tell to get it started).

Any suggestions on how to get it to work more reliably? Am I supposed to be cleaning or maintenance-ing this pen in a way I don’t know about?

Thanks!

    Answering YOUR question:

This is common with disposables and low-quality cartridges.

What’s happening: some of the “oil” (which is really more like wax) is getting pulled/dripping into the airflow channel, and when it dries between uses becomes too solid to be cleared easily, blocking airflow

To prevent it next time: don’t “chain vape”. Take one, maybe two hits tops and let it cool fully before using again

What to do with this one: You can’t really fix it unfortunately. So when you experience this, do quick, short, hard pulls repeatedly until it clears. You’re trying to activate the coil so it heats up the oil/wax until it’s soft enough that air pressure can clear the blockage temporarily. To save your cheeks, you can also suck on it hard, creating negative pressure, then, without letting go, block the hole with your tongue. This will create suction inside, and if you leave it like that for 10-15 seconds it should clear the clog temporarily.

I dunno, I’ve felt like full body geometric recursively folding-into-itself-and-expanding floral heart waves that felt like the immense happiness and love that I have for everyone in the world - but that was more like a feeling than a thought …

I have no idea how to estimate a high to sober ratio.

      I’m probably sitting at a 4 - 5 right now:

If you’re asking in the last 24 hours how many hours I’ve spent high vs sober - almost all of them sober (only the past few have been high), so roughly 92% of the last 24 hours has been sober?

Last six months is probably more like 99% in terms of hours - I’ve had alcohol maybe two - three times this month, weed maybe 3 - 4 times, coffee / caffeine only twice.

Lifetime is 99+%, there are just so few hours I’ve been high - it’s probably less than 30 days a year.

    You probably landed already but…

What do you notice about your mind while you’re high? Like, for me I notice two key things: First, I stop giving anything remotely resembling a fuck about anything political. Second, my wit gets really sharp and suddenly I’m the funniest mf in the room. What about you?

Hope you had a pleasant flight.

My brain seems to wander when high - I find it hard to concentrate, and every single thought is so expansive - it can make it both enjoyable and also very difficult to read a book, for example. Everything is so suggestive, and makes a deeper impression.

I can also get easily paranoid and anxious on cannabis - like I can get really scared that I won’t know how to breathe right or that my tongue could suddenly choke me, etc. but also just like … paranoid about other people and their intentions - I’ll read a book and little ambiguities in the interpretation of the author’s words can get me paranoid about whether the author is being ironic, or lying to me, or if they’re being sincere or not, etc.

      Weird thoughts.

What are you craving to eat right now?

And is the paranoia manifesting itself right now, or does that come after?

I took 2 doses of a CBD tincture earlier in the day, which really cuts down on the paranoia for me - I haven’t had much paranoia, but I definitely feel more “spooked” and easily can get pulled into paranoid-adjacent feelings (I have to be a bit more careful about my headspace)

In terms of cravings - I was cooking this pesto pasta earlier, and it did not turn out great, so I’m craving good pesto pasta 😭 You know it’s bad when you don’t enjoy it despite being both hungry and high 😄

I think the pasta needs way more salt, and I think it needs more and better pesto, tbh - it tastes bland.

And there are a bunch of leftovers, too 🙈

Clogged vapes are very normal. Try blowing into it instead of sucking.

I’ve noticed that the clogs happen more often when the oil gets cold.

I get annoying clogs/half-hits when I don’t leave the cart upright

Some shit carts just straight up leak the oil out of the mouthpiece

Makes me miss herb extra hard

But my mom never shuts the fuck up about how much she hates the smell, so smoking a joint has to be an excursion downwind of my own home

oh god, that’s dark - I don’t know, but there are many devices that were engineered to torture people, e.g. the Spanish donkey - if it weren’t such a bad headspace I could probably come up with an approximate for the worst thing

but maybe I should just choose leaded gasoline since it poisoned so many people

or maybe agent orange, I dunno

How can it be anything else? Put your socks on in your bedroom, get ready to go, grab a purse or a bag and car keys and stuff, and then put your shoes on in the genkan or entryway or foyer or whatever.

Or are you telling me there’s people who wear shoes in the house?

yes, or if your shoes are relatively clean, you can do them indoors just before you leave (or maybe that’s gross, i dunno)

I do the sock, slipper, sock, slipper if I am going to be in the house. But in that case when I go out it turns into sock, sock, shoe, shoe. Oh heck life is funny!

I usually put socks on after a shower and before bed, so I do lotion, sock, lotion, sock, slippers (together, usually at once)

almost always: sock, sock then shoe, shoe

it’s usually a glitch in my brain that leads to sock, shoe, sock shoe - and it feels wrong when I do it.

      oh, right - cannabis

(EDIT: I use it to cope from laser hair removal, which feels a bit like being poked with a hot iron over and over again)

        OUCH.

Well, I’m not gonna take advantage of somebody who’s coping. :)

But I can ask a decent question! Was the removal expensive?

yes, especially for my face it’s basically necessary - it definitely makes me a lot more comfortable with my body - having hair in the wrong places is a distress I’ve ignored most of my life, so it’s good that it’s finally getting addressed 😅

I mean, I can jump maybe like a foot above the ground?

definitely can’t touch the sky 🙅‍♀️

If I flew up there on a plane, I think I would struggle to successfully hijack the plane … and I don’t want what other people on the plane have … I would prefer to just read a book, tbh.

Also, there was a recent new lead on the DB Cooper case - some money was found that was linked back to the case, and they’re doing forensics on the money.

  • You can try heating it, to melt the stuff back down or reaming the stem with a paperclip.

And to prevent it happening again, keep that sucker upright as often as you can and don’t suck super hard when taking hits. Which may be hard when semi-clogged and on a draw-to-hit style disposable, since you’ll have to inhale at least hard enough to activate it in the first place.
