It appears in a videogame during a moment that’s a complicated stew of themes and emotions including precarity, desperation, but also deep burgeoning artificiality and fakeness. The act of stopping to enjoy the song is entirely optional, you do surrounded by completely insufferable and irredeemable people, by it’s still kind of a moment.
It makes me think about how deep down in some kind of (possibly shitty) way we really are the things that we pretend to be. But I also kind of like that.
