to be fair, most times ive stepped on an ant, it survived, and i bet a pokemon-sized bug would have a very thick and resistant exoskeleton
The hard exoskeleton argument doesn’t make sense in context though. Rock, steel, and ice types are all weak to fighting.
thicker and more resistant doesn’t have to be harder as in like a rock, it can also be squishier to soften the blows
