Just want to get some perspective on what people think of the American reaction. I’m NOT asking if it will happen. I’m asking what do you think Americans will do, if anything if this happens. Do you think people will just not care or protest on the streets?
Edit: What would your reaction would be? (even if not American)
There would be mass panic at the imminent nuclear crisis. Borders probably shut down.
USA: half “serves them right”, half “oh shit”
rest of the continent: “oh shit”
The majority of Americans have been unsupportive of the war in Iran, not just the left.
I don’t think Americans will react to anything unless it happens on their own soil for a change.
I don’t think we’ll react to things on our own soil anymore. There have been several moments in the last two years that should have been go-time for a country wide indefinite strike or anything. But every time somebody does something, the news cycle works its magic and gets us to fall in line. There are no more Luigi’s in America
The frog in the pot analogy comes to mind. Americans were sitting in the cold pot while trump stoked the fire under them. They’ve sat there largely content as the temp rises.
But if an attack was launched against the US it would be as if the frog was tossed into hot water. They would jump up and take action.
Now a nuke going off miles away might only raise a stir among the US population if the world sanctions the US.
The US dropping a nuke without consequences might encourage the UK to be bolder in its defence of the Falklands.
Personally I would at that point be making a trip to the capital because the Orange fucker will have placed not just Iranians, not just American citizens, but all human life on earth at risk.
Keep in mind that other nations like Russia and China would have less than 5 minutes to react to an intercontinental missile heading vaguely in their direction, they could choose to retaliate and mutually ensure destruction.
Yes, they’d have to be willing to bet that it’s true destination is Iran. If it’s a bomber this isn’t a problem, but america doesn’t have air superiority in Iran
Also I think small portable nuclear weapons are out of fashion given smuggling capability. Could be wrong, though.
My reaction, as a Canadian, would be “I hope we’ve been secretly preparing what’s needed for a nuclear program of our own because we need our own nukes immediately now. America’s collapse is progressing way faster and harder than I expected.”
I think that would necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men are concerned. It’d be naive of us, to imagine that these new developments would cause a change in Soviet expansionist policy. I mean, we must be increasingly on the alert to prevent them taking over other mine shafts space, in order to breed more prodigiously than we do. Thus, knocking us out of these superior numbers when we emerge! Mr. President, we must not allow a mine-shaft gap!
American’s reactions will range from despair to triumph. Most of them feel sad about it at the minimum. But I think they will be mainly responding to the state of affairs, after all a nuke just reflects the extreme voices currently in power in the US.
I personally will grieve the world before the new nuke dropped. I would be scared of escalation and I would probably also get more radical in my beliefs. I would probably find fairly radical activist groups and join them and try to supply them with my time and knowledge as much as possible.
Basically a nuke will change my methods. I will basically look at the current geopolitics as beyond repair and I will try my best to make my voice heard forcefully, so we can role the dice and hope for better leaders. Maybe I will have to donate my freedom.
But until that part of me dies that still hopes we can get there with our current system, I will be a holdout and just make my vote count.
Very negatively
I think some people will protest and I think some people won’t care and some will cheer for it and every reaction in between
Many will deny it happened at all. Many will claim false flag. Most will metabolize their fear and horror into patriotism and insist that Iran gave them no choice.
This seems about right
Not a damn thing. Our population has no balls to stand up to oppression. We ARE the oppression.
grotesquely apathetic, actually
They’ll make it all about them.
Americans will wait to be told how to react. The public gave up rational thought a long time ago.
China won’t like it very much.
Xi Jinping in his underground military city 10x the size of the Pentagon: *sigh “We will have to keep electrifying cars, maybe deal with Australia for coal, how are we on battery raw materials?”
