Always maintain the French work ethic:
- No communication outside work hours
- Dont care about the buissnes
- Dont care about the boss
- Never attend optional “teambuilding” exercises
- Don’t do work outside work hours
- Use as many sick/vacation days as possible
- Always prioritize your mental and physical health above corporate profits
Okay I get that your dad could have reacted better. More importantly though, what are you doing about your actual problem?
I’d reply “hey” back on Monday morning when the new shift starts.
This is the key. I personally am happy to be texted to take extra shifts right now, but I still make the final determination if I want to work or not. Remember, YOU are the one in control, not them.
work communication is for work. after 17:00 that shit gets turned off.
Hell yes. Work phone is scheduled to go silent at 16:00 just in case I forget to turn it off.
My work phone is always on vibrate and not on my person when I’m not being paid to have it on me.
A trully PRO move.
best practice is don’t even respond. most people will get the message that you basically don’t exist if you’re not physically at work. and if not, fuckem
Nice attitude I guess
The correct one, if you wish to maintain your boundaries. You do have the right to say no to work. It’s different if you’re a business owner or have a passion for the job. But the key is, it’s YOUR decision, not THEIRS.
Good luck out there!
I’m successful based on my criteria for life. Are you? You should do something that makes you content, rather than attempting to make pithy comments online. Trust me, there’s more satisfaction out there than on here.
Gotta love those children and retirees wading into comment sections acting like they think they’re career gurus.
