I love my Logitech G502, which I’m sure you will see recommended anywhere you look because it’s pretty popular.
I’m still using the wired version, but if I were to be in the market for a new one today, the wireless one would be the first I checked out.

I just connect with Bluetooth like normal, and then in steam you can tell it to treat it like whatever type of controller layout you want: switch, xbox, playstation, etc.
I’ve been using these for years, including with my docked steam deck, and they already work great.
I also wonder what they could’ve changed.
