Dark humor does not equal edgy humor. Edgy is about laughing at others, dark is laughing at situations
Edgy humour just means it’s goes up to the edge of what is acceptable, it’s generally distasteful, harsh, unkind. This joke absolutely fits the definition.
Your first part of the comment somewhat agrees with what I said. Well executed dark humor is acceptable form of entertainment, while edgy humor is not.
This really does not feel like edgy humor, I can totally see this being used by all sorts of famous comedians who practice dark humor
