I say, love the propagandist. Not their propaganda. Love them as a person. Understand their ideology comes from a place of hurt. Make them want what you have. A settled mind and a clean soul. Im not saying you can change them but I’ll listen to the person who can defuse a shouting match over the people shouting, every time.
The goal wouldn’t be to swoon the propagandist to your side. It would be to take away their power. That power comes from people listening. If you can expose them to be consumed by only their own opinion you take that power away.
Also, disengage. We are scared, terrified, of words. They provoke us, and we give them power. Stand tall on your own morals and let the waves crash on your shores. Dont get swept to sea every time a storm is raging.
I’m kinda thinking that your strategy is too expensive. Like, you say

In my opinion, love is expensive and a lot of people simply can’t afford it, i.e. they don’t have the emotional carrying-capacity that it takes. You need a lot of patience to deal with difficult people, and i mean a lot of it. Ain’t nobody got the time for that.
I wonder how economics plays into this. Anyways, any strategy that works must respect the economics of the game and be at least somewhat efficient overall. For example, shutting out news media from your field of vision and only listening to local news that your neighbors tell you (as i explained in another comment in this thread) is more efficient because you waste less time going through the potentially infinite amounts of bullshit that “news” media throw at you, and instead give you more time to focus on your local community; one where you will actually be rewarded if you make it thrive, because you’re more directly affected by it.
Im not saying give them a handy. Im saying look past the argument and go straight for remediation. Concede the argument immediately, and the moment you attempt to soothe them they will hesitate.
really, arguments are often very superficial. humans use them to protect themselves because they feel that they need to protect themselves. a lot of the time it’s much better to care about the human directly, instead of even bothering with whatever arguments they try to bring up as excuses.
Your take is magnitudes greater than others who are combative and hostile. If people could comprehend instinctively what is propaganda and not fall victim to it. Your idea would be great. That’s the only thing preventing it. Most people have to be able to understand what propaganda is
What do you think should be done?
Youll just laugh it off.
I’m listening, what is it?

You can laugh now.

Thats true, too. Education is the only way.
Edit: here’s a thought, though. Just treat everyone that way because its a decent way to treat people.
Why don’t you just say it, stop trying to be cute.
I’ve tried that so many times.
