    Yeah but if you start baring criminals from political positions then you end up with the opposite problem too. A corrupt official could just have their opponents convicted

    Idk if there’s a clean cut solution in terms of black and white text. Maybe in terms of enforcement and intent, but that’s always changing

      He was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and more importantly, he rallied people for an act of terrorism, namely attacking the parliament.

      While I realise it’s more complicated than just a blanket ban for all criminals, in the case of Donald Trump, IMO, it really is that easy.

      Edit: He also stole government documents. Another offense added to a list the US judicial system wipes its ass with.
