I miss Siri, just asked it to open the pod bay doors, had a few laughs and moved on with my life.

You should be able to own the right to bring a novel idea into production, after it’s generally available then it should have no protection.
Basically if you come up with an idea, you get to get the first initial rounds of profits to make it worth your while, that’s it.

Even with a bailout, I’ll take some admission of making a mistakes over the insanity we have today.

To address shortages, companies are turning to global markets. As a result, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea became the biggest suppliers of high-power transformers for AI data centers to AI data centers.
God I wish democracy meant that we could vote on decisions like this

That assumes it’s done additively.
I think a lot of these AI automation promises come down to:
Are you adding a tool thereby increasing the overall quality of service and cost.
Or are you trying to reduce cost even if it means reducing service quality.
The first one doesn’t take any job away and makes everything just a bit better but more expensive.
The second one is a race to the bottom strategy that just comes down to capitalism doing its thing.

Oh this one is going to be interesting, cause the other component shortages were not something thin clients needed.
Sure but let’s be honest, it would be ads.

I think one of the reasons why consumer facing AI content is failing so bad is because we have had good video content for decades so it’s super obvious when a video is just off.
I think this relates to the main reason why AI is failing (or at least not popular with consumers). It automatically just means the product has less quality than you’ve been used to for your entire life. It hasn’t really provided anything new to consumers.
It’s cause they dream of exploiting other people’s labour but even though the average person is very selfish, they are very far from eating babies.

And that’s with real people.
I would bet far more money on real devs in another country being able to replace devs than “AI”.
I am very pro Linux and have been trying to migrate all my system but I got to say:
I installed windows 11 LTSC and disabled automatic updates, it’s not good but it’s also not this bad.
If your wondering why, pirating games isn’t very seamless on Linux yet,

Thought the second religion image was suppose to be an Epstein joke

Awesome stuff but here I am with my single mini PC that has Jellyfin and Immich wondering why I would need such a big setup.
At some point I realized that the more complex I make it, the more resources it needs and the more maintenance it needs so I only get things I think I really need.
Not op but nope. Same with office as well.
There are just some people that enjoy watching others be uncomfortable and I think it’s correlated with having less empathy.
When I watched the office, I just felt bad for Michael.
A lot of those shows just focus on punching down.

I always thought what would kill Microsoft is their greed and insistence that their products should have a high price, remember how expensive office used to be even for regular people?
So I always thought the solution was just go get everyone to pirate their stuff as much as possible.
Never thought they would make themselves irrelevant by just making their products worse.
I used to want a windows surface, now I just want a good Linux optimized laptop.

The only good thing out of NFTs was that I learned what fungible means.

Anyone else a little surprised by the realization that if an enemy took out all datacenters it would actually improve a lot of things and take us back 20 years to the golden age of the internet?
Not sure what you mean, but yes hyper competitiveness leads to less value for human life.
My point was that it’s a negative sum game, we are all competing with each other in an unhealthy manner, in which we are all poorer collectively as a result.
And it’s not even helping evolution since merit isn’t correlated to financial success.
IMO reposting from larger sites is a very good thing. The main advantage that larger platforms have is the amount of content. If all the good stuff ends up here anyway then it makes it easier to switch for those who haven’t due to the lack of content.
