Its hard to imagine a shared family PC at this point in time
Most of human civilization has been run by kings, emperor’s and dictators. I see the worlds rich population gaining more control than ever while the possibilities for everyone else is less and less. The lower and lower middle class have become too easily influenced by fake news and propaganda. How do we advance when people can be manipulated to go against their own best interests?
Flip phones are where it was at. Conversation had you mad? Bye! CLACK!
No one told you that and you’re mom is lying to you
Damn it all. They didn’t disclose how I was supposed to behave during the sign up process.
This post is looking for a war 🤣
This is the type of peak capitalism that make me lose all faith in humanity. The fact American companies feel pressure to pay even less than the already poor salaries is testament to the need to burn this all to the ground.
How do you leave when your friends, family and coworkers are all on iMessage and refuse to use anything cross platform? This literally affects people’s professional relationships and close personal connections.
No my friend, Apple has perfected lock-in and turned it into an art. Just because it doesn’t affect you doesn’t mean it’s not an issue.
Their entire business model has been to focus on systems that lock people in and exclude people who are out. None of this is done for security or as a means for the best possible customer experience. It’s done for the sole purpose of forcing income they couldn’t achieve with innovation alone. I’ve heard so many tech reviewers and even my own personal friends who say they would love to switch if only to try something else. They say they’d switch today if their friends, family and coworkers wouldn’t get mad at them. Apples only real innovation over the past ten years has been built in social pressure.
I can hear their slogan now: ‘He’s lovin it’
I’ll bet the ice cream machine was working that day
Think of any invasive streaming devices in your house. Samsung, Google Chromecast, ATV, LG etc. Roku is by far the worst.
Cosmic justice?
I’m sure big tech is stoked on this idea. I mean, they were always able to figure out who most people were but now people have to straight up enter their identification and positively confirm.
I’m sure no one will use that information for nefarious reasons, right?
Windows and Mac OS are both closed source but both allow apps outside an app store. No issue with the code base there.
Even worse. Games with a mysterious auto save “feature” that don’t allow a manual backup save. There’s a special place in hell for those developers.
LG is one of the worst. Only TVs with ROKU are worse for privacy concerns. ROKU, LG and Samsung make Google look good when it comes to invasion of privacy.
I’ve been against the idea of smart TVs from day one. A good panel will easily have a longer life than whatever smart box they shoe horn into TVs now. That’s reason enough to avoid that trap.
Mark my words on this: on top of the privacy invasion Future smart TVs will be designed to slow down to the point of being unusable well before their panels wear out to force upgrades and prevent third party repairs.
Sadly, I believe this almost without question.
Unless the government wants to buy the data in which case it’s just good capitalism
