Eurovision has always been deeply political, despite their official line.

Incredible recipe and truly simple, you can save on the oil and skip the drizzle over the top and it will still come out nice.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is everyone doing to survive this food inflation?
3·4 months agoYes, lentils are a decent substitute and quite healthy. I also tried soy chunks that you soak in broth for some time before adding to the sauce. These will benefit from a lot of time in the sauce and then are quite nice and a bit chunkier than lentils.
Neither will be as good as the original ground pork/beef that goes in a proper Italian bolognese. But I do like both versions enough to make a meat free version 8/10 times

1·4 months agoMac and Cheese, Bean Chili (no meat), Cucumber Salad and peach (or any fruit) cobbler are some cost effective dishes you could make that should be popular enough. Most can come out of a can.
Also bring some containers and prep yourself a nice lunch or dinner for the next day.
Talking to your manager about your financial situation is still a good call. Any reasonable manager should report the need for salary increases of employees struggle to entertain a pot luck. All the best to you!

4·4 months agoThat sounds like a fun game but I hardly see the need to pay $20 and use a dedicated app.
Shared notes (Joplin, iCloud, Google Doc, plenty free options) and a group call on Signal will do the same.

1·4 months agoIt’s their main marketing thing.
But they have just become another reselling platform for dropshippers, selling the same plastic garbage you find for cents on AliExpress. Tolerated because selling it simulates growth. Their main competitor, as communicated internally, is Amazon. Those who pushed for cleaning up the site to focus on re-use were sacked.
Doesn’t mean you can still find good stuff there, but local classifieds are still the better choice.

Technology@lemmy.world•Age checks could turn internet into an ID checkpoint and would kill anonymity, Proton CEO saysEnglish
2·4 months agoThanks for sharing, I don’t think this is much more. Corporate Dems are an issue and I wish I was in the timeline where Bernie became president. Saying Republicans are better (in 2025) is either extremely naive or insane. Either way, it does not give me the faith I would like to stay with Proton long term. Posting official stuff, pulling it back, now claiming neutrality… confidence is eroded enough.
I have the Duo plan until mid next year and see it as my inbetween from iCloud to self hosting most of my services. Currently trialing Mullvad for the VPN and it can keep up with Proton easily.

Do what you can, most can stop buying from major chains and buy electronics unrelated to Israel, switch to FOSS software and not watch Eurovision.
