minus-squareJaymesRS@piefed.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up13arrow-down1·edit-26 hours agoAn actual recipe I grew up having in Minnesota and still occasionally make for events. Cookie Salad Pot-Luck, Salads Difficulty: Easy Ingredients: 2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix 2 cups buttermilk 12 oz whipped topping, thawed 2 (11 ounce) cans mandarin oranges, drained 1/2 (11 1/2 ounce) package fudge stripe cookies Directions: In a large bowl, mix together the pudding mix and the buttermilk. Fold in the whipped topping. Mix in the mandarin oranges and optional pineapple chunks. Crush cookies and mix in. Chill until ready to serve. Decorate with any remaining cookies. Notes: French Vanilla pudding is especially good Some like to add 1 ( 20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained as well
minus-squareZorque@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·21 hours agoIs it only half a package of fudge stripe cookies because part of the process is eating the other half?
minus-squareJaymesRS@piefed.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·19 hours agoThe other half of the package is for decoration on the top. You break the cookies in half and try to put them in a decorative manner.
minus-squarecrunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·23 hours agoThat sounds like a much better version of banana pudding.

minus-squareJaymesRS@piefed.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·19 hours agoIf you really hate yourself, you could swap it out with plain Greek yogurt. It wouldn’t be good, but you could do it.
minus-squarejustaman123@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·16 hours agoI don’t think swapping out buttermilk for Greek yogurt on this recipe would change all that much, maybe a bit more firm? I mean if you left out the pudding mix and just used plain Greek yogurt sure.
