Today’s game is Stardew Valley. Me and some friends got the idea to play a big lobby with around the 6 of us just to see how it went. So far it’s gone well. I stole someone’s furniture and moved their house to a random corner. Then i sold all my Parsnips just to grow potatoes. I wanted to see how far i could get just growing them.

I’ve been mostly making a living fishing all day. So far we’re on the 13th and i’ve got enough for a Chicken Coop. Next time we play i plan to have it built. Maybe even pick up a few chickens if we go that long.

The game is interesting as in all my saves, i feel like it becomes a social game in multiplayer. Like, just run your chores and chat in voice call. It’s really fun. Plus when you interact you can have some fun experiences. Like fishing next to each other or helping to meet the coop goal.

Single player it’s fun too. I can’t help but feel it doesn’t have a lot of replay ability to me personally once i get out of the early game. By summer it just becomes the standard checklist for me.

We ended just on the egg hunt. It was tired and none of us wanted to tackle it. On retrospect i’m thinking i should have picked a different game though to write about today because this game is definitely proving a challenge to talk about.

There are ways to make Stardew more competitive:

    • Parody of The Bachelor and all players could compete to marry one NPC

    • First to unlock each new area and plant a sign, like a conquistador planting a flag

    • Biggest ho: first to get 10 hearts with all romancable NPCs

    • First to get married and have 2 kids

    • First to get to a million (if you chose split money)

    • Most money earned in a day/season/year

    • Most combined hearts from NPCs in a day/year/season

    • First to complete ___ collection

I’ve created so many new saves on this game, play the save obsessively for months, and then put it down for a while. Especially fun to play while listening to podcasts or otherwise.

It’s awesome to see the multiplayer used like this! 6 is probably the biggest group I’ve seen get together. Thanks for sharing!

It’s been a while since I played this, but, did you know you can use areas outside your farm??? It’s true.

You can set up literally hundreds of kegs in the quarry. Grow strawberries, and blueberries. Then put a keg right outside your house.

Now put all your berrys of the current season into the kegs at the quarry, and then come home. Now put 1 inside the 1 keg outside your house.

Now when the one at your house is done, it means it’s time to grab your other spare berries, head to the quarry, and harvest your wine.

You can also do this inside the tunnel where the bus goes.

NPC’s will delete objects built in their assigned path. There are safe zone maps on the wiki if you want to try doing this

Right, that’s why they suggested the quarry. Entirely safe.

Also, while NPCs do destroy furniture, they now shove chests, so it’s also easier to find these paths manually.

If you want a different experience for this game that gives you more replayability, I suggest checking out archipelago: https://archipelago.gg/

Archipelago is a multi world randomizer that connects games and shuffles everything between them, for example someone can be playing zelda ocarina of time, open a chest, and find in it Mario’s ability to jump in someone elses game of super mario world.

Stardew valley is randomizable in AP as well, which can give you different goals, like completing a randomized community center, marrying and having kids, perfect evaluation, among others you can choose. You can connect it with other games your friends are playing, but if they also want to play stardew, you are able to send each other gifts to help each others progression. Everyone can have different goals, you all choose what you want to randomize, like randomizing entrances, having to unlock seasons, randomizing recipes, and more.

I very much recommend it, AP is a lot of fun, and I bring stardew to it often, depending on the settings you make you can have it be a single gaming session thing or a multi day affair, and always more fun when you have friends also playing stardew and you help each other finish the goals.
