No one blocked yet.
I don’t really bother blocking people; I prefer to use my winning personality to make them exit the conversation
i’ve blocked zero instances.
i got all the guys with the big ass block letters for names on my block list
Blahaj.zone and dbzer0
I don’t presently block any instances, and my home instance has a “no defederation” policy.
I think I’ve blocked about three users, all of whom were spamming content to try to make threads unreadable.
That being said, I don’t subscribe to communities on lemmygrad.ml, hexbear.net, or lemmy.ml, and I normally browse subscribed.
The ones that don’t primarily use English simply because I can’t understand what they’re talking about, and even if I could, it’s usually about the issues in another country that I can’t do anything about, so my input is useless.
Only communities I block are the ones I’ll never have interest in when browsing All. I just checked and I have no users or instances blocked.
I tend to block new communities fairly frequently. There are a lot that would be fine to see one post occasionally, eh, whatever, scroll on.
But a lot of the time, someone will make a community and immediately spam like 10 posts in a row. I can scroll past 1, but when it’s most of a page, it gets annoying.
I tend to rarely see new communities all that often. I feel like whenever I go on All it’s a the same few that I find interesting enough to keep around, but not enough to join/sub to.
Yeah, it’s def not every day. But it comes up enough to be a familiar feeling.
The same ones that should be on everyone’s: ml, hexbear, lemmygrad
Hex Ml db0
what is db0? i’m not familiar but i noticed i have tons of people from that instance on my block list.
A weird “anarchist” instance that bans people if they down vote or say negative things about AI or the blahaj admin for some reason. I think db0 made a blahaj admin a db0 admin or something, there’s a weird cross over.
But it’s what you expect when an “anarchist” names their entire instance their own username.
not disagreeing that some of the hot takes are pretty out there… but I try to feed my inner lefty from as many sources as possible and a non-zero number of posts lead to interesting articles, regardless of the sometimes suspect commentary.
They can make all those takes in civilized places…
Like, if you run into mods you don’t like: block their communities.
You run into heavy handed admins that enforce stupid rules across all their communities, you just block every community on their instance at once instead of one at a time.
This is especially helpful for people who browse /all because those problematic instances tend to be full of people who want to mod 27 different communities and won’t stop making new ones.
It comes off as spam to a lot of people, which is why an instance block is valuable. It just stops people from accidentally going somewhere on the fediverse that they don’t want to fuck with.
An average hard-line lefty instance that’s pretending to be Anarchist, except that they don’t actually follow Anarchist ideals and the admins decide what kind of Anarchism is “real Anarchism”. The only flavor difference from most (Lefty) instances is that they welcome AI generated stuff, which is overwhelmingly hated on Lemmy.
My favorite part is how their own Golden Rules conflict with their own Code of Conduct, not to mention their admins blatantly do not follow either. It’s hardly surprising you have a lot of them blocked.
We’re too leftist over here for homie. Lemmy.bzer0.com.
It’s not the leftism it’s the unapologetic felatio to your tankie friends. At least ml is honest about who they are. You lot pretend to be anarchists but cream your pants for State sponsored authoritarianism as long as it comes out of China, Iran, Cuba, Russia or one of the other triad countries.
as an anarchist I have way more common cause with ‘tankies’ than with running dogs for empire
That’s not me. Bark at someone else.
if you run around with a bunch of clowns, you’re part of the circus 🎪
Inadvertent Dwarf Fortress reference!
Cool story.
NSFW/porn ones. Nothing against porn, it just should be separate and not pop up constantly when browsing /all
agreed. i have a ton of furry porn and other cartoon porn communities blocked, they seem to pop up in my /all frequently.
If you want that to be the reality of the situation then you need to post and upvote other things more.
A lot of that hornyposting stuff. You know the people. I’m already thinking about that shit enough. I come here to not do that lol
- Communities: none, I don’t block entire communities (beside the ones already blocked by my own instance, I suppose) since I see no reason to punish an entire population for the poor behavior of some of their individuals.
- Users: I had no idea where they’re from, so I just had a look. A good chunk is from lemmy.world but that is to be expected as it’s quite large an instance, so it says nothing about the instance itself beside it being large. Also worth mentioning, I have blocked users from many other instances. The thing is that I block someone the instant I realize either
- they are wasting my time: I’m too old to let anyone rob me of that precious resources.
- they are only here to troll or to create drama, or spread hate and anger, not contribute anything positive.
I don’t block, outside of the occasional spambot.
Certainly never a whole instance. That seems overkill.Blocking an instance blocks the communities, not the users.
So I have .ml instance blocked, no post to a .ml hosted community will ever show up to my feed.
But if an .ml makes a post somewhere else, I see it.
I see their comments, and replies.
I just don’t stumble into a place with authorarian moderation policies.
The only instance I’ve blocked is feddit.online, because it’s a pure reddit mirror with no users or fediverse-native posts. I found it clogged up my feed and made lemmy feel dead since there were all these posts with zero engagement, so I haven’t missed it at all and def recommend blocking it if your instance federates with it
Hexbear, world, and anything yiff/furry related
