    Tbf honey bees aren’t really monarchic. Iirc they have a very advanced democracy where hive decisions are made by unanimous votes (you vote by dancing the same way as those who share your opinion of course because you’re bees lol)

    Plus the queen basically is just stuck in the hive forever after mating once. The workers are the ones who have exciting jobs with novelty.

      the only thing i think you can really compare bee hives to are full-on organisms, no individual bee has a particularly nice life. They’re all just slaves to the hive itself, like our cells are slaves to us.

      It’s uh, kinda bleak, but hey!

        I’m not sure i’d describe bees that way. Bees aren’t working all the time, they have rest and downtime. They also exhibit curiosity and playfulness! I think it’s a little human-centric to assume bees are miserable just because their lives don’t look the way ours do.
