Second, I just don’t think Lemmy has enough users and enough content to be picky and granular about categorizing all memes into the appropriate community. And that’s before we even get into the realities of federation and how there could be multiple active “memes@*” communities.
I 100% get why you think this, Lemmy is for the most part dead, there’s maybe 30 or so ‘active’ communities and then participation drops off pretty hard and fast, and the few active comms are left wing progressive/Linux/Queer related, not like Hobbies/random things to discuss, there’s almost 0 niche comms here
But my biggest problem is that despite the tiny size I feel like we’re making it even worse by throwing American political shit in with everything

As for the reason for this decision, it’s because Lemmy and the Threadiverse in general didn’t turn out into what I envisioned it would be.
For a hot minute it was honestly great but eventually all that remained was tankies propaganda and depressing news. And probably a few non-political communities that sadly don’t really offset it for me.
