    outcompeted by cows

    I’m going to need a source because there are many herbavores in central asia where the modern horse originated (after crossing the Bering straight) which means horses outcompeted the local fauna to establish a population. Meanwhile cows were in southern Asia. So there was limited overlap in habitat.

        Yes, The OP claimed that horses for transport is what saved them from extinction. But everything he said was wrong. Horses outcompeted the native fauna of Central Asia to become established before domestication AND didn’t occupy the same habitat as cows.
