Got introduced to https://beesbeesbeesbees.com/ in another thread, do you have any silly links to share?
https://boringboringboring.com/
Once upon a time, there was a site called StumbleUpon which was a glorified search engine, except you basically only picked a category/topic and their service would redirect you to some random page on the net that was under the category.
The site went down eventually and they took off their extension. They eventually turned into Mix, but now you can actually still find StumbleUpon out there. They’ve closed off their actual capability for some reason.
The closest thing we have now maybe that doesn’t exactly match but for giggles, is the useless web:
This one is also kinda cool for those that are interested:
Doesn’t wirk on mobile, I’m afraid.
Not really a website with custom domain, but Anuken’s Personal Website is kinda funny, even more so when you realize this cat is the developer of the famous open-source game Mindustry
Oh man, I miss that brief moment when people who had sites like this were cool and interesting. There was so much more life in the internet.
I mean, I still consider this page cool. It seems to have originated in 2016, and IMO it’s not quite the 90s ‘dancing baby’ design or Myspace, but instead has a definite whiff of Tumblr art circa early-mid 2010s. I liked psychedelic-ish Tumblr art, it gave a whimsical perspective on life.
https://bosshobbies.neocities.org/ I made a website to help score Beyblade X games, and turned it into a watchapp for the Pebble watchapp https://apps.rebble.io/en_US/application/68efa55f5bf09a0009eac172
I absolutely love nieche hobby things like this!
I know hating ai is the style of the times, but I love watching them do things like this. Honestly, ai as a goofy little toy would be so much better.
Amazing!
Where did they get this video of me dancing?
I’ve actually used HTTP cats at work. You can call it inside your own error messages with
https://http.cat/[status_code]Saving this.
They even have my favorite: https://http.cat/418
405 and 431 get me giggling! So many more to love.
Haha 405 really dates lolcats, eh?
Truely a masterpiece.
https://bearjcc-quack-language-model.hf.space/ Chat with a rubber duck
Fantastic. Best use of language models I’ve seen.
Thanks! I discovered you don’t need to build a transformer to be openai compatible. This operates more as a slot machine so I didn’t waste energy training a model to be a duck and its more lightweight. There’s 70ish possible responses with varying rarities and just a simple rule not to repeat the same one twice. If you use the website or API there is a slight chance your “data” will be captured by your ISP or HF, but it’s open source and super lightweight so you can run it locally. If you are super security minded you might notice there are 3 things obfuscated in the source code. They are just fun Easter eggs obfuscated like a spoiler tag, but it’s just base64 so you can easily audit to verify my claim that it’s humor not vulnerability.
http://www.staggeringbeauty.com/ is an oldie but a goodie
Oh… this seizure of a site. Good thing I turned bluetooth off so I wouldn’t throw my headphones at the wall.
This is a masterpiece.
I just get a dead website.
The website only uses http so you’ll need to disable https mode if you want
Same. I checked on PC and developed epilepsy at 38. Great website.
Like, did you actually get a site…?
I did. It was silly and flashy.
Wow
I nearly dropped my phone you a-hole 🤪
My “silly little website” isn’t really that silly — it’s about exploring clean, alternative power like aluminum–air and saltwater systems. I’m genuinely interested in how such chemistry-based power could support resilience in remote or disaster-prone areas. That’s what I’ve been building at www.wehometool.com .
This is actually amazing and will probably be this weeks deep dive.
Damn, Zombocom. I remember taking a Photoshop class in highschool, probably 2004 or so, and we were able to sync up all like 35 computers to play Zombocom at the same time. It was a really wonderful thing to hear, Zombocom in 70.0, crappy computer speaker quality.
The thing that people wouldn’t get today is that zombocom was a spoof site of other stuff that was out there that was actually kind of like this. People - usually someone trying to ride the emerging .com wave - would barf up these incomplete early web sites with promises that absolutely would never be delivered.
Would the modern version of this be a parody AI? Because honestly between this and AI there’s quite a parallel.
It was truly a time where anything was possible.

Damn, that button is almost as old as me.
Lucy pic on the balls list made my entire day.
