The thing is, it’s a wiretap - but not from the government. It’s a wiretap that ignores if you plan a terrorist attack, but transcribes everything that has to do with shopping.
Kind of insane if you think about it.
Yeah I was gonna say that its not listening to our every thought and secret for some grand scheme as a baseline. It really just wants to sell us more shit and show adverts, which is somehow more benign and also infinitely dumber. But I guess it’s easier to match keywords for that versus whatever insane but mundane shit folks say on a regular basis.
Not to say that some of those in positions of power don’t want toale 1984 look libertine but moreso that they seem more incapable than unwilling. Probably why some are so obsessed with AI since it could in theory sift through all that data for reasons other than advertising.
It would have blown Orwell’s mind that people would excitedly pay for spying devices and carefully place them in every room for maximum effectiveness.
i’m thankful for him that he didnt have to see what world has become
I’m sure there are enough historic people spinning in their graves to permanently solve our energy crisis. The derp stert just doesn’t want you to know!
I need the book version of a remix between 1984 and Brave New World. I think even Huxley agreed that Orwell’s dystopia was more realistic than his in certain aspects.
They’ve been spying on us through our phones and computers long before these, at least they improve qol
Birds have been government drones for hundreds of years.
Unfortunately people are too nice and kind so they naturally consent to tyranny…
Your level of sarcasm is uncanny
Okay, maybe I meant "people believe this is the one and only life and they are afraid, as opposed to religious people who are less likely
This reminds me of an interesting take I have seen somewhere, which was basically a mixture of philosophies of Marx and Nietzsche:
Religious people are more inclined to accept bad circumstances as they have the afterlife to hope for, while atheists don’t have this, thus try to create paradise on earth.
Exactly.
I know this all too well because I recently became religious and until then I was a strong ateist
I honestly don’t care what you believe, as long as you try to make the world a better place or at least don’t make it worse. The problems with religion are IMO mainly two-fold:
-
Some if not most people tend to see themselves as better than others, and try to force their world view upon others. Just let people be, and that goes double for sexuality and gender related issues. If you don’t understand an issue regarding any of this, either let it be or ask nicely. Don’t judge.

Organised religion tends to be structured in a way that demands obedience, not only to the rules but to the people. People fail, power corrupts and attracts people that want to abuse said power. This is also true in politics, at work or anywhere really. Unchecked power will ALWAYS be abused at one point. Don’t blindly trust authority figures.
Edit: With people fail, I don’t just mean the offenders. I also mean that offences will be swept under the rug with false pretenses, e.g. keep quiet so that others don’t loose their faith in the religious organization or even more “noble” causes.
I don’t have authority figures.
“Organised religion tends to be structured in a way that demands obedience, not only to the rules but to the people.”
Organized religion? I dont know what you mean.
Religion is for the 90% of times for oneself. The rest should be gently incouraging others to have a openind, etc.
The biggest religions: both Islam and Christianity cant work if you try to force someone into it.
Religions require belief.
You cant make someone believe you with force or in other words against their will.
“People fail, power corrupts and attracts people that want to abuse said power.”
Exatly. Politics are not good enough. Live ae you want to and fuck off.
No one made a deal with governments to be their puppet.
There are 4 types od people in regards to that:
1. Strong people who want sovereignity
- Weak (single) people who cant protect and/or thrive by themselves and are consenting
- People who aren’t educated enough thus aren’t exactly consenting
- People who dont have enough free time (for example after work or school) or are too exghaused to practice critical thinking and intellectually fight for their futures. And/or people who dont care enough because maybe they believe its out of their control, that they cant do anything.
Lets be honest, you just came, just from what I wrote hahaha
Most religions are institutionalized and have a ranking structure with multiple levels and a head such as the pope. That is what I mean by mean by “organized” religions.
Religion is for the 90% of times for oneself. The rest should be gently incouraging others to have a openind, etc.
Seriously fuck that. You should not “gently nudge” others to get on board with any religion. It’s annoying as fuck. You can however tell others why you think something is bad/good/morally correct to do. However “because god wants you to” is never even in the slightest any good enough reason. Instead, you should point to the benefits and losses for society or individuals.
Lets be honest, you just came, just from what I wrote hahaha
I had a good chuckle from your original comment. Also, I’m just always up for a good, productive discussion.
Please note my edit that I wrote before I saw your answer, as I think this is an important part to keep in mind, too.

Simple 2 ingredient pancake recipe:
Ingredients:
-
Pre-packaged pancake mix
-
Water
Step 1: Mix pancake mix and water as directed by package.
Step 2: In a greased pan or on a flat top grill on medium heat, pour some batter down making roughly 1-2 inch sized discs.
Step 3: Cook for 2-4 minutes each side, until golden brown.
If you can clean and save one of these bottles, they make pancakes very very easy. especially when you’re doing like a thousand of them.
