Also frog tape doesn’t do shit when you use it on frogs
Duct tape is literally the worst for ducts.
nah, still better than packing tape, painters tape, electrical tape
But great for ducks
Not so great for ducks either
Scotch tape - surprisingly very effective on most things Scottish
Not so great on scotch though. the alcohol tends to dissolve the adhesive.
And a cheap way to generate x-rays
Bad for shortbread though.
To be fair it was never intended to be used on ducts. What we today call duct tape was invented to seal ammo cases in WWII. The combination of rubber and cloth, used in things like raincoats, was commonly referred to as “duck cloth” at the time hence “duck tape”.
I’ve found my people

In my country everyone calls it Duck Tape, and when I learned English I was shocked of the reality.
I thought duck cloth was waxed, not rubberized?
Apparently the other commenter is correct, though I have only heard duck cloth used in reference to water resistant cloths (both waxed and rubberized), it refers specifically to the linen part and comes from the Dutch word for it rather than anything having to do with a duck or water resistance. It seems clear, however, that the connection is part of why the name stuck.
TIL
It’s neither. It’s just plainweave canvas, called “duck” because it comes from the Dutch word for fabric, not because it has anything to do with ducks.
You clearly aren’t using it right if your frogs aren’t properly secured by frog tape.
Must be a bitch to peel off a piece from the roll.
Wierd, we call it self-amalgamating tape here
That stuff really is the shit. :)
Yeah I just got some to repair my car
Is that what the kids call it now?
