Cool! Where’s the nearest militia I can sign up for? Do they have jets? Helicopters? Drones? Artillery? An organized command structure? Are they not already being monitored by FBI/NSA/DHS?

Fuck off with this shit. You don’t just topple the world’s most militarized govt overnight. Knocking off Trump isn’t going to make it magically go away either. Getting past this is going to take a long fucking time. The first step is meeting people at protests and building solidarity.

If only there was some middle ground between holding a sign and not bothering anyone and fight a full scale war against the US military

A General Strike would be ideal but again, you don’t just make that happen overnight. Just showing up in large numbers at a protest shows that collective action is possible.

Here’s a short blog about what Chicagoans are doing to resist ICE: https://dansinker.com/posts/2025-10-24-understand/

People are doing more than protesting but that doesn’t mean you should mock the protestors. You’re going to want their help.

Large scale mainstream demonstrations are both necessary and not sufficient for deposing the regime.

So when do we do something about this?

Guess we’ll just wait a few years and then do nothing when they take a 3rd term.

I strongly want to see more radical action like yesterday but that doesn’t mean i think less radical elements are worthy of scorn.

I don’t think that “no that’s not enough” is the attitude to have, i like “yes and also more”. Fascists can ignore peaceful demonstrations and kill radicals but with both it’s harder to do either.

When we have the organization to do something. You know a great way to organize? Meeting up with thousands of like-minded people in one location with a common goal.

You don’t go to protests because protests will solve things. You go to protests because that’s where the people you can organize with are.

I understand feeling helpless and wanting to do something. But, as others have said (some nicely, some less so), jumping to revolution is not the answer

Disagree strongly, peaceful protest has an important place in civil discourse. Going from zero to revolution is not only ineffective and ill advised, its plays directly into the states hand as it erodes the perceived morality of dissent. Overreaction absolutely can be as bad as underreaction.

This is a false dichotomy. People advocating for more than compliant and useless protest aren’t saying we need to burn down the country and start a revolution. We can have direct action. And stronger resistance without it being a revolution.

Frosted flakes are part of a healthy breakfast… if the rest of the breakfast has protein, vegetables and a bit of insulin

Peaceful protest are indeed important but only ifethey cause or inspire actual disruptions; otherwise it’s just group chanting

There is nothing protesters could do that would be an overreaction to Trump and his administration kidnapping people off the street. We exited the boundaries of civil discourse when they threw out the rulebook.

Careful you’ll draw the ire of the “eat the rich burn the system kill billionaires” group that does nothing but tell others online what they should be doing.

I think of peaceful protests as the flashing red CHECK ENGINE light of the country, and we’re all barreling down the highway at ninety with the gas pedal on the floor saying “Well, it’s not like anything bad has happened yet!”

Motherfucker, the light is there to warn you to do something before flames start shooting out of the AC vents!

This is why I like the country I migrated to, if the government fucking sneezes the unions immediately set up protests.

And this is with a left wing government in charge

Hey man i go to the protests too, it would just be nice to actually use numbers to make progress instead of listening to old white people tell us how good we are for protesting in a way that won’t bother anyone or impede anything

How ever will we explain to them that we had to postpone their birthday because it fell on the same date that was planned 3 months ahead?
