I’d back it up and put the covers up as some decorative piece, but yeah the actual disks are probably on their last legs in one way or another lol

It really depends so much on disc type. I have CDs burned in the 90s that still work, and DVDs that delaminated two years later. Just depends.

My PlayStation games still work fine.

And will not have the time to play them all.

People underestimate the numbers of games released. They see 1,353 and may see that as a challenge. But every game you play is going to amass into hours and hours per game. Moreso once you get into the RPG ones.

Playing them all? Absolutely doable. Beating them all? If that means getting to the credits, also doable but a lot more time consuming. 100% them all? Probably not even theoretically possible anymore but also very, very unlikely to happen regardless (if they’ve got anything else to do in a day).

I think he just wanted to have them anyway, not play them all. Like all those 2k+ games steam libraries I see people have lol

I think project Gotham racing had an achievement to be #1 on the world leader board so I doubt thats going to be happening even if they’re still online.

I have over 1000 games between steam and gog. I’ve played about ⅔s of them. Average play time is likely 30mins and only because of the dozen or less that I’ve put a few hundred hours into. Take those away and we’re looking at like 10mins each.

I’m assuming you mean your mean play time is 30 minutes, because if your average is 30 minutes per game that would mean you have 500 hours of total play time, which would make you an extremely casual gamer. I have more than 10x that amount of play time in CS:GO alone. And I quit that game 6 years ago

I’ll be frank, I refuse to play most rpgs without speed or money hacks. They do not care about wasting your time with inane bullshit, and I am too old to wait 6 minutes to beat up a slime. I could go on, but i won’t. Not right now. Another time, at random, with no coherent purpose in the concurrent conversation. That’s when I’ll spring my rant. And they won’t run. They won’t understand what’s happening until I’ve blocked the exits. They’ll learn, whether they want to or not.

        Nah, dude. I’m with you.

Some buddies of mine all got together and tried replaying Phantasy Star Online. Back in 2002? High school. Fuckit Plenty of time to grind. Level 199-200 is more XP than level 1-199. The game is a grind.

The new fan server has a sandbox mode. All it took was me saying “guys. I’m 40. I’m not putting another 2200 hours into this fucking title to get back to where I was on Dreamcast and GameCube. I’m playing sandbox. Join me there if you want.”

So now we just fuck around with mid-level characters with whatever fashionable weapons we can conjure up. We already put in our time. It’d be insane to do it all over from scratch.

We’d have achievement parties, work on multiplayer cheevos, and just compete for the highest gamescore in general.

I take it that “cheevo” is what people are calling achievements now.

It’s been a shorthand for “achievement” for a long time. In fact, there’s an achievement in Fable 2 that’s called I Did This For A Cheevo (maybe that was the description?)

From the name, I’m assuming unlocking it involves some sort of sex act.

I prefer when games own up to it, like how looking at the porny posters in Metal Gear Solid 2 HD unlocks “Snake Beater”

Some do, some don’t. Within the PCSX2 project, a lot of members like to call RetroAchievements “RCheevos” (in large part, admittedly, because “RA” could be confused for “RetroArch”). Personally I think it sounds kind of dumb and prefer to just say “achievement”.

Whats even more stupid is that in less than 100 years he’ll be dead anyway making the whole endeavour absolutely futile.

      What a fool.
