I swear to god, every time I encounter a straggler machine that never upgraded from Win10 to Win11 - it runs faster and more stable than newer and beefier PCs with 11. Insane.
Don’t even get me started on making 4GB of RAM perfectly usable just by installing Mint XFCE. Switch to Linux wherever you possibly can.
My decade old desktop at home falls under that, and indeed runs snappier than the beast of a laptop I got from work.
Depending on the type of company you work at, your work laptop will be on a spectrum of “locked down” which will often include a stack of mandatory security software that sometimes doesn’t even play nice with each other. It’s a mess.
I’ve seen a corpo run a new business fleet (2nd Gen Intel Ultras) that takes 10-15 minutes to become usable after logging in at a fresh boot.
We have first gen core ultra laptops. They only use defender for security but holy fuck they are slow. Like my 11th gen i7 laptop updates faster I feel.
Even when 11 came out, it was a decent bit heavier. I did back to back Geekbench runs on 10 and 11. 10 was a decent bit faster. 11 used a gb more ram too.

According to this (the site is in Spanish) the photo was taken back in 1997 by the reporter Óscar Berrocal while Shakira was visiting the facilities of a newspaper called El Heraldo in Barranquilla.
This is awesome. Stuch great genuine persona here being that this isn’t a stretch. Almost looks like right out of a Disney or Nickelodeon scene.
Back then she was 22… She is still 22 but back then she was too.

I blame the cold for my executing a DELETE query without a WHERE clause on the production database. “Why is this taking so long?” I muttered through blue lips.
