I’ve always thought the trope was based on the idea of stunted development. Kids are heavily encouraged to drink milk, so films making a point of adults drinking it are indicating that there’s some part of growing up that they’ve missed.
You sound like a high school English teacher.
You sound like a high school student
You live a joyless existence if you avoid milk and cookies.
Neither Homeländer nor McPoyle are represented. This is far from definitive.
I don’t think that. I thinks big milk industry shaping a new narrative to make milk “cool-ish”
Some people are just so lactose intolerant smh
No, cheese and yogurt are cool.
Why btw ? I love milk
Angry vegans saying angry vegan things basically.
Probably something about moms tit or the lack of it.
poor cows
Who said anything about cows 😏
‘I can quit blue milk any time I like’ - Stormtrooper Lewis.
Anyone else ever listen to the Stormtrooper Bob audio plays?
The unhinged child soldier rearing knife assassin definitely fucking qualifies.
The lightsaber is not a “knife”.
The Dude buy it just for the White Russian.
Pretty sure in 2025 he would use soy-milk 😁
He’s drinking half and half
When you start drinking in the morning you can’t go all-in
Little of this, little of that
vodka and milk is not a valid recipe for a white russian. idk what the hell the dude thinks he’s drinking but it’s definitely not that.
I don’t remeber what a White Russian should be made of from my bartender years, but if it was cream, well I stay with the Dude.
At one point you’ve to prioritize your calories.
Kahlua - necessary Vodka - necessary Cream??? > Milk
yeh but he skips the liqueur too
The Dude is both chill, and poor. Not everyone has coffee liqueur and creamer money. He makes do with what’s around and he’s happy about it.
That’s cause you’re young.
When you get to the 50s you can’t use cream, bur you doesn’t stop to like white russian
i think the kahlua is probably the most important thing there… otherwise it just tastes like milk.
So, you’re telling me heroes drink milk? Ok, I’m onboard.
only one of these could be called a hero.
leon is at BEST a very dark shade of morally gray as a former child soldier who was raised to be a hitman by the mob.
and the dude is just the dude. he just wanted his damn rug back.
The Dude Abides.
Leon is a hitman, but he’s also probably learning disabled. He rescued a girl from the mob.
The Dude is just a guy who likes bowling, but he’s pretty cool and that’s enough for me.
His relatability makes him the most heroic of them all in my book.
you will call her!
I literally hide my eyes and gag laugh pretty much every time these guys are on screen. My husband thinks its hysterical because I find them to be hilarious but they make my stomach wretch.
what is this
Just two normal guys hanging out with their sister.
The McPoyles in Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia
This clip is mcpoyal milk perfection, including using milk to dress a stab wound https://youtu.be/W5liIhpkpkA
Beat me to the Mcpoyles
What if someone is drinking chocolate milk? Where are they on the evil scale?
Choccy milk is what the good guys drink!
Meanwhile, hard liquor and alcohol are supposed to mean that you are normal and the good guy.

Now you’re getting it!!
I think that’s foe anti-heroes
You mean faux?
I grew up with milk being the main dinnertime beverage, and I still drink it quite a bit. My step-son’s gf clearly did not, and clearly thinks it’s strange, but tries to be polite about it. She’s asked me if milk is my favorite drink, if I feel like milk goes with most food, and a number of related questions. I think in her family, milk is something some people put in coffee.
I don’t and likely never will understand people thinking it’s strange.
I grew up in an Asian household, dairy wasn’t really a thing. If I drink a glass of milk I’ll probably shit myself. That goes for most of my family. Having a glass of milk with dinner would be a really bad idea
I’ve had similar childhood experiences with milk, and as an adult I find it goes so well to wash down basically any carb
I don’t see how people physically eat cookies without a glass of milk.
Also Homelander.
And Misfits.
Leon The Professional drank milk and he was good from what I recall, minus the whole being a hired killer…
minus the whole being a hired killer
Tiny little detail
“No women, no kids” is good enough for me.
I recognize the bottom two, but not the top two.
Top left is Get Out
Haven’t seen it, so that makes sense.
Pretty good, give it a watch
Top right is Inglorious Bastard
Now I recognize it. Thanks!
May I compliment your cows and daughters! This is actually one of the most frightening scenes from any film I’ve seen. Masterful performance.
It is awesome. Also you should watch The Good The Bad And The Ugly. At least it’s opening scene.
All right. I added it to the (literal) list of stuff to watch.
